⊆∫∀∏∉ℵ⊂∃ ∞⊕π−σ⨳ for Player Piano

Written in the celebration of Clarence Barlow's retirement from UC Santa Barbara

This piece of music was written using Iannix (a graphical open-source sequencer for digital art). The pitch material, velocity, and placement of attacks were derived from Clarence Barlow's signature. The duration of notes was chosen by compositional intuition and MIDI velocity values were 'compressed' to accommodate the peculiarities of the on-board Kawai/M-Audio adapter.

This piece was recorded on a Kawai Player Piano in Lotte Lehman Concert Hall on May 20, 2019.

The recording was played during Clarence's retirement party in Karl Gehringer Hall on June 11, 2019.
