The musical material in this piece is derived from the 1918 World War I song “Come On, America!” by Kenneth M. Murchison and Edmund Vance Cooke as heard in combination tones. The melody appears in each section but only appears in the correct order in the final section of the piece. The melody is first presented in a random order and then, through the bitonic sorting algorithm, is sorted as the piece is played. Additional musical material is derived from the phonetics of the lyrics of the same piece.
